Knowing God ’ s Plan For Your Life Part 2 – Oyedepo

Last week, we began this two-part series with the
understanding that every child of God has a
glorious , enviable, royal, prosperous and
mountain-top destiny in Christ Jesus. We also
learnt that God’s plan for our lives is locked up in
the Bible. All we need is to engage the ministry of
the Holy Spirit and the power of the Blood of
Jesus for continuous access.
Furthermore, we discovered that one of the
scriptural pictures of our destiny in redemption is
to walk in dominion over any life situation and
circumstance. This week, we shall conclude this
teaching by exploring more scriptural pictures of
our Destiny in redemption, which are as follows:
1. We are redeemed as priests and kings to reign on
the earth: The Bible says: And they sung a new
song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book,
and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain,
and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of
every kindred, and tongue, and people, and
nation; And hast made us unto our God kings and
priests: and we shall reign on the earth
(Revelation 5:9-10).
Every child of God has a royal destiny in
redemption; however, it is by wisdom that kings
reign. For instance, the Bible records that all the
kings on the earth in the days of Solomon
gathered to listen to his wisdom (1 Kings 4:34;
Proverbs 8:15-16).
It is important to note that wisdom in the
Kingdom is the application of the Word of God. As
it is written: Therefore whosoever heareth these
sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him
unto a wise man, which built his house upon a
rock: And the rain descended, and the floods
came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that
house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a
rock (Matthew 7:24-25).
Thus, wisdom is putting God’s Word to work as a
lifestyle. Our royal destiny will never be realised
except we put God’s Word to work in our lives. It
is walking in the light of scriptures that empower
the believer for enthronement. Therefore, our
destiny is absolutely at the mercy of our
obedience to the instructions of scriptures
(Deuteronomy 28:1; Psalms 27:8-9, 119:98;
Isaiah 60:1-3).
2. We have been redeemed as stars to shine on
the earth: We have been redeemed to so shine in
this dark world so that people can glorify our
Father in heaven. Jesus said: I Jesus have sent
mine angel to testify unto you these things in the
churches. I am the root and the offspring of
David, and the bright and morning star
(Revelation 22:16).
He also said: …As my Father hath sent me, even
so send I you (John 20:21). Based on the above
scriptures, everyone who is born again is
redeemed a star after the order of Christ.
But, what does it take to shine?
And they that be wise shall shine as the
brightness of the firmament; and they that turn
many to righteousness as the stars for ever and
ever (Daniel 12:3).
Our shining demands that we engage in turning
many to righteousness (soul-winning). No
wonder the Bible says, he that winneth souls is
wise. Supernatural wisdom is one of the key
benefits of genuine engagement in Kingdom
advancement, which includes engaging in
Kingdom-focused prayers and reaching out to the
lost with passion and love (soul-winning). This
culminates in the making of stars. That means to
emerge as stars, we must engage in tireless
commitment, devotion and addiction to soul-
winning (Proverbs 11:30; Ecclesiastes 8:1).
It is important to understand that soul-winning is
not a gift or a calling; it is an instruction for
everyone who is redeemed (John 15:16).
When we are ‘on the go’ in evangelism for Christ,
we have committed Him to establish partnership
with us, thereby making us more than
conquerors. Remember the Bible says: He that
walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a
companion of fools shall be destroyed (Proverbs
13:20; see also Matthew 28:20; Mark 16:15-20).
When we are walking with Christ, Who is the
wisdom and the power of God, we become
supernaturally smarter than the circumstances of
life. This launches us into the struggle-free realm
of life and our dominion is unquestionable. That
is, things others struggle with become a walkover
for us as a result of our partnership with God
(Psalms 114:1-3).
It is impossible to find a star in the Kingdom
without passion for souls. Kingdom stars are soul
hunters. As we all know, all sports stars are
seasonal stars; as soon as the record is made, it
is laid aside and forgotten. However, God-made
stars don’t go down; for whatsoever the Lord
doeth shall be forever (Proverbs 11:30;
Ecclesiastes 3:14).
In conclusion, we must recognise that every
destiny in the Kingdom is at the mercy of
obedience. The pictures of our redemptive
heritage are real but we must take responsibility
by engaging the Word, to make them a reality. It
is not enough to catch God’s vision for our lives
from the Word, it is important to know what to do
to realise it. Often times, the picture fails because
we do not respond to what is required to make
them manifest.
Our future places specific demands on our lives
and until we subscribe to those demands, destiny
is reduced to a daydream. This is why we must
match every revelation of our redemptive picture
from scripture with responsibility. When we see
our redemptive picture and respond to its
demands, we commit God to make it a reality.
Therefore, receive grace to engage the Word of
God as a lifestyle, thereby leading to the fulfilment
of your glorious destiny in Jesus’ name! Remain
ever Blessed! Are you born again? Have you
accepted Jesus Christ as your Saviour and Lord?
If you haven’t, you can do so as you say this
prayer: “Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I am a
sinner. Forgive me of my sins. Cleanse me with
Your precious Blood. Deliver me from sin and
satan to serve the Living God. Today, I accept
You as my Lord and Saviour. Thank You Jesus
for saving me! Now I know I am born again!”

A hoax went viral on the social media in Nigeria

Nigeria And Her Star Kids – By Albert Afeso Akanbi

The late Dr Carl Sagan once reflected on how he
took interest in astronomy at an early age.
Growing up in Brooklyn, United States and filled
with curiosity he had asked family members the
question; ‘what are stars?’ ‘They are lights in the
sky, kid’ he was told. Unsatisfied, he questioned
his mother who suggested he approached a
librarian. Upon asking for a book on stars, the
man returned with a book on movie stars!
Sho Yono, an Asian with an estimated IQ of 200,
received his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology in his
teens, successfully becoming history’s youngest
MD. Ainan Cawley, a Singaporean boy in his teens
stunned the world when he delivered a remarkable
lecture about acids and alkaloids to the utter
amazement of adults.
Adam Kirby became the youngest member of the
British Mensa at the age of two after scoring 141
in an IQ test, conveniently meaning that at that
age, he was smarter than Barack Obama and
David Cameron put together.
These are flesh and blood kids like many others
around the world driven by curiosity who possess
abilities that can best be described as strange.
Throughout history, stories have been told of
children so different that, while some have
denounced them as evil, others have argued that
they are gifted kids living among men.
For example, the story is well documented of the
case in the 6th Century BC, of Mnesarchus, the
father of Philosopher Pythagoras, who while
travelling home from work one day, came upon an
abandoned child. The bizarre child it was said
had survived solely on the dew from a nearby
tree. Taking this child in, Pythagoras’ father
named this child Astraios, which is Greek for ‘Star
Child’. It is said that this child was raised with
Pythagoras and his siblings and that he was later
given to Pythagoras as his servant. It is believed
today by many that, this strange child may have
been responsible for most of Pythagoras’ works
in the field of Mathematics and Philosophy.
A good fable or not, I cannot tell. But the point of
this story is that there are countless kids around
the world today, Nigeria inclusive, who, like the
young Sagan, Sho, Ainan and Adam, have a lot
inside them and yet are grossly misunderstood,
that even though some of them display
behaviours that is different from how we expect
children to behave, they deserve our care rather
than cruelty.
Though I am not here trying to deny the existence
of ‘evil’ kids, my quarrel is with cruelty to every
unusual child. Recently, we heard the story of one
Francis Taiwo, who was said to have chained his
son Korede in a room for days with little food, in
an attempt to cast the evil spirit from him.
Depressed as we may have felt about this sort of
sordid story, we must also bear in mind that
stories like this will not go away until something
drastic is done to remedy the situation. As a
matter of fact, since 2008 – we recently
witnessed the case of Danish woman Anja who
picked up a small boy accused of witchcraft and
left to die by his family in Uyo- many kids have
been facing torture in Akwa Ibom State at the
hands of their parents, upon the instigation of few
religious charlatans like Helen Ukpabio of Liberty
Ministries.
Only God knows how many faceless and voiceless
kids scattered across the length and breadths of
Nigeria who have died. Eccentric kids have been
around since the dawn of history. Even Jesus
Christ of the Christian faith himself at some point
was considered an eccentric. Being strange should
not be license to visit barbarism on any child.
While the like of Ukpabio will denounce such kids
as witches and wizards, the like of Gorgio A
Tsoukalos, a Greek American publisher would
define them as gifted kids or ‘Star Kids’ that we
should make efforts to understand rather than
destroy
Akwa Ibom State is very notorious for child
abuse. For example, at a time one of the kids in
the care of the Child Right and Rehabilitation
Network (CRARN) included a teenage girl whose
mother tried to saw off the top of her skull after a
pastor condemned her and repeated exorcisms
costing a total of 100,000 naira didn’t cure her of
‘her witchcraft’!
Of all the despicable stories coming to light from
Akwa Ibom, the most depressing for me is the
story of Nwaeka, 16, who was mentally retarded
as at the time her story was told, seated all by
herself in the mud, her eyes rolling, scratching at
her stick-thin arms. The wound on her head
where a nine inches nail was driven looked to be
healing well but was still dripping whitish pose as
at when I watched her video. Her family pastor
had denounced her as a witch.
As far back as 1982, the Chinese government
launched a nationwide search for kids with extra
ordinary abilities. The purpose was to develop
and harness their gifts. Today in Nigeria, some of
the traits the Chinese government looked out for
in those kids then are the same traits the like of
Helen Ukpabio and her co-travellers are
condemning kids for. A child that is sickly, bed
wets, stubborn, quiet and reserved, disabled, too
intelligent, according to Helen Ukpabio’s book, is
a witch. If the lives of these kids are so easily
disregarded, this begs the questions; what is
wrong with us as a society that we have turned
on our kids, the most vulnerable in society?
Apart from preaching against cruelty to children,
Jesus always found time for youngsters. He is
even quoted as telling his disciples that unless
they became like little children they would not
enter the kingdom of heaven. Even the early
church, in adherence to Jesus’ teaching,
recognized the child as a person. For them, both
children and adults were equal in the kingdom of
God. There are overflowing examples in the Bible
of how children were looked after. This is the
same Bible the like of Taiwo and Helen carry,
preach from and site as giving directives to their
shameful crimes against children.
I believe it is time for an adequate response to
this issue of child abuse as a matter of urgency.
This response should be one that addresses the
attitude of the general public towards gifted
children. More National Child Protection laws,
ones which give forte to agencies and institutions
that exists to look into the issue of child abuse
should be made and strengthened. These laws
should exist solely with the mandate to prevent
and respond to cases of abuse, exploitation and
violence against children.
The government should also come down heavy on
religious charlatans, and as a matter of fact, there
should be a very serious regulation of church
activities and registration and the activities of the
so called exorcist and deliverance healers in this
country.
Who say we cannot make efforts to understand
our unusual kids like the Chinese government did
in 1982, benefit from and provide for them? Some
of them are actually geniuses who simply need an
enabling environment to thrive. Now is time to
quit soaking our hands in blood by torturing our
own ‘Star Kids’ because every child deserves
care.

Photo: Occultic Man Chases Wife Out Of Home , Kills Baby Girl In Abuja

35-year-old Thomas Matthew has told a horrific
tale of how his father, who he claimed initiated
him into an occult group, appeared to him and
told him to sacrifice his children to him.
In response to the demand, Matthew strangled his
two-month-old son, John Matthew and four-year-
old daughter, Mary Matthew at different times.
But his attempt to also kill his first son, Josiah
Matthew, who is nine years old, backfired.
The horrendous acts were committed in Mountain
village opposite Dantata Camp, Asokoro, Abuja.
As Sunday Sun learnt from the Commissioner of
Police, of the Federal Capital Territory Police
Command, Mr. Mohammed Mustafa, the suspect,
Matthew strangled his daughter, Mary, inside his
house on October 7, 2016, after beating his wife,
Bola, who is deaf and dumb and chasing her out
of the house.
In a brief interaction facilitated by a sign
language expert, the wife who is deaf and dumb
recalled how the husband had tried to kill their
first son.
She said:
“I didn’t know that my husband is a cultist. I
remember when he first tried to kill our first son, I
reported the matter at the Garki Police Station. It
was my mother who took the boy away from the
house and he is still staying with her in Mararaba,
Nasarawa State. Then I had another son last
year. When he was two months old, he became
sick. My husband killed him in September 2015. I
didn’t know until he confessed. This year I had
our daughter. In the night of October 7, 2016, we
were together in the house when suddenly he
started beating me. I got injured and ran away to
his elder sister’s house.
Before I came back with his sister, he had
strangled our baby to death. He locked the door
and ran away. It was policemen from Asokoro
Police Station, where I reported the case that
broke the door and found the baby. We rushed the
baby to Asokoro General Hospital. The doctor
said the baby was dead. Now I have only one son
left, Josiah Matthew. It was only God who saved
me from the power of darkness.
When he spoke with Sunday Sun at the
headquarters of the Criminal Investigation
Department of the FCT Police Command, where
he is being held prior to arraignment in court,
Matthew corroborated what the wife said and
made other disclosures in explanation of what
drove him to commit the alleged heinous acts.
His words: “I got married to my wife, Bola, and
we were blessed with three kids. My father is a
cultist and he initiated me into the occult. My
father asked me to offer the children as sacrifice
and mark of honour to him, promising he would
make me become rich.
“It was a covenant that nobody knew, even my
wife. My father gave me conditions that if
anybody got to know or I revealed the covenant,
that the covenant would be destroyed. From the
time I had my first child, my father began
disturbing me to offer my child to him as a
sacrifice.
Matthew who hails from Kwande Local
Government Area, Benue State, further said: “I
tried to kill my first child by strangling, but my
wife caught me and reported to the police and her
mother came to take the child away from the
house.
He has been staying with her in Mararaba,
Nasarawa State.
Later my father appeared to me after I had my
second son, John, who became sick. I strangled
him to death in 2015. On October 7, 2016, my
father appeared to me again that I should kill my
only daughter. I was with my wife and then I
started beating her and she ran away to my elder
sister’s house and I locked the door and
strangulated my four-month-old baby girl and she
died.
I locked the entrance of the house and ran away.
It was the youth in my area that arrested me and
handed me over to the police. I wanted to kill my
younger brother according to my father’s
instruction. My father is still alive and he is in the
village in Benue State.”
The police commissioner assured that the suspect
would be charged to court soon.
