Security operatives of the Lagos State
Police Force have arrested cult members
belonging to the Eiye confraternity.
According to reports, the suspects were
apprehended at a shrine in Okomaiko, Lagos ,
where an initiation ceremony was going on.
The suspects were identified as Matthew
Agboroko, John Agboroko, Samson Okpe, Paul
Jago, Saheed Oriyomi and David Quenum , who
hails from Benin Republic.
SP Dolapo Badmos , the state Police Public
Relations Officer confirmed the arrests in a
statement.
“Information was received at about 11.30pm on
Friday that a house on Halidu Avenue, Shibiri,
owned by one Mrs. Rosemary Lawrence, was
allegedly being used for the initiation of cultists.
“The suspects met there at their shrine to
initiate new members.
“We got information that the gang was initiating
new members and we stormed the compound.
“Some of the suspects are siblings. We have
been keeping a close watch on the group’s
activities for some time. They are Eiye
Confraternity members.
“A team of policemen raided the place and nine
suspects were arrested.
“Some wraps of weeds suspected to be hemp
were recovered in a shrine allegedly used for the
initiation of new members.
“The suspects are still under investigation and
the Commissioner of Police, CP, Fatai Owoseni,
has directed that the suspects be charged to
court,” she said.
The house used for the initiation belongs to a
woman named Rosemary Lawrence , report says
